FIRST “FOOTBALL ON ICE” TOURNAMENT HELD IN OMAN
Funzone, Qurum hosted the first ever “Football on Ice” tournament held in Oman with the inauguration of the event held on Sunday 26th March 2017 in the presence of H H Sayyid Mohammed bin Thuwaini al Said, the Ministry of Environment and Climate affairs, H E Sheikh Rashad Al Hinai, the Undersecretary at the Ministry of Sports Affairs, and other high ranking officials. The tournament went on for 4 days, the final being held on Wednesday 29th March 2017.
There were 15 teams that participated in total in the Men’s category while 4 teams participated in the Kid’s category. It gave the players the opportunity to beat the summer heat and play indoor football at cooler temperatures. A host of dignitaries were present for the matches. Also people gathered in numbers to watch the matches everyday and cheer the teams on. Cash awards were given to the teams that finished in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions along with the elegant trophy for the 1st placed team. The matches were officiated by The Oman Football Association (OFA) referees.

All in all the tournament was a success and the Funzone organizers are very confident that there will be more tournaments like this hosted in the near future.
